Many of us assume that the rich and famous will always buy or adopt their pet dogs from well-known breeders. These people have the resources to pay for puppies with the best pedigree and we can never imagine them adopting rescue dogs from an animal shelter.
However, British Prince Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan, proved that they too can be flexible when it comes to choosing a family pet dog. Recently, the Prince and the Duchess of Sussex were looking to adopt another Beagle to complete their family.
Most people expected that they would look for a Beagle puppy that comes from a well-known breeder. They have the money to buy one and many of us assume that they would never set foot in a rescue shelter. However, they opened their hearts and home to a senior rescue Beagle named Mia.
Mia came from an abusive breeding facility in Virginia. She was being used to produce puppies that were primarily sold off in laboratories to be used for experiments. Thankfully, the authorities cracked down on the breeding facility and rescued 4,000 Beagles. Mia was one of them.
Mia and all the other rescued Beagles were living in horrible conditions. Many were kept in small cages, and some of the dogs had dental diseases, inflamed paws, and eye conditions. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan heard about Mia’s story and became so interested in adopting her.
It turns out that both royals were already set on rescuing a dog with a troubled past and Mia seemed like the dog that needed a good home the most. Once the royal couple heard about Mia’s story, they immediately contacted the rescuers and applied to adopt her.
The minute Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan walked in to meet Mia, she ran to them with a wagging tail. There were no doubts that the royal couple was the perfect match for Mia. After everything she’s been through, Mia is finally getting the home that she deserved. Here’s a video featuring Mia’s story and how she became a part of a royal family. Truly, a fairy tale ending for such a sweet dog.
