Man Holds Up A Cardboard Sign On The Corner Of The Street To Help A Lost Dog Find Its Owner

Man Holds Up A Cardboard Sign On The Corner Of The Street To Help A Lost Dog Find Its Owner

Kathy Morgan September 2, 2020

When Charlotte resident Jason Gasparik was out in his neighborhood post office one day, he wasn’t expecting to find a lost dog—let alone bring one back home. But during that day, that was precisely what happened to Gasparik.

Gasparik noticed a chocolate labrador who was clearly lost. Being an animal lover himself, he couldn’t bear to walk away from the dog in need. Without thinking twice, Gasparik decided to bring the dog home with him.

He immediately took to social media to help the lost dog, which he named Roxy, find her owner. He took pictures of Roxy and posted them on Twitter, Facebook, and some lost animal sites like PawBoost. Unfortunately, even with the thousands of people on social media, he wasn’t closer to finding Roxy’s owner.

Not wanting to give up on the dog, Gasparik visited a local vet to have Roxy scanned for a microchip. To his relief, the vet was able to confirm that Roxy indeed had one. However, Gasparik’s relief was short-lived as the moment they got in touch with the number on Roxy’s microchip, it led them to a Pennsylvania breeder who barely even remembers selling the dog to someone in Charlotte.

Gasparik was back to square one with no clues as to who or where Roxy’s owner was. But despite the setbacks, Gasparik was not about to give up on Roxy, and what he does next can only be defined as selfless.

Having exhausted his options, Gasparik decides to take Roxy with him and stand on the corner of a busy street holding a cardboard sign that says, “Do you know this lost dog?” He stood there with Roxy for hours, and when he got nothing that day, he decided to go back to the corner of the street and do the same thing the next day.

Gasparik’s efforts soon paid off when Sam, Roxy’s owner, drove by the corner where they were standing, looking for her. Roxy, whose real name is Indy, was finally reunited with her owner thanks to Gasparik’s selfless act and determination to help a dog in need.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
