An American Bulldog named Stella was rescued from a neglectful breeder. She had sunken eyes and non-elastic skin, which means she was dehydrated. Everyone who saw her was devastated by how emaciated she was.
Stella was in labor when she was taken to the vet. She had to go into emergency surgery because she was not fit to perform a normal delivery. Unfortunately, none of her puppies made it.
Stella suffered a couple of cardiac arrests during the surgery. She only had a 50 percent chance of surviving the surgery. Miraculously, she pulled through.
Stella’s rescuer and foster mom, Louisa Crook, took her home three days after the surgery. Stella cautiously walked around the house. Louisa was not sure whether she was exploring the new place or looking for her puppies.
Louisa had to nurse Stella back to health, and her goal was to put a smile on her face. She started by giving her small meals because she had been starving for too long. Fortunately, Stella showed signs that she wanted to live and willingly ate the meals Louisa prepared for her.
Within the week, she started to gain strength and showed interest in the other dogs in the house. Louisa had three foster puppies during that time, and Stella got curious about them. The other dogs were equally curious about her and readily accepted her.
In a couple of months, Stella made a complete recovery. Her bulldog personality started to show. She had a friendly and silly disposition.
Louisa’s goal to bring a smile to Stella’s face came to fruition. Stella loved her life with her foster mom and the other dogs in the house. She enjoyed car rides and exploring off-leash.
Louisa officially adopted Stella a year after she rescued and fostered her. No one was surprised because it was apparent that Stella had found her home right from the start.
