Yellow Lab Who Went Missing Walked 57 Miles To Her Old Home

Yellow Lab Who Went Missing Walked 57 Miles To Her Old Home

Kathy Morgan March 26, 2021

Although our pups are some of the smartest animals in the world, their mental capacities will, of course, have limitations. But despite this fact, our puppers can perform surprising feats that can surely blow our minds. We’ve read a lot of stories about doggos traveling for miles to find their way back home, but Cleo’s story is quite different.

The four-year-old yellow Labrador made local news when she walked 57-miles to her old home that was bought by Britney Michael and her husband, Colton, two years ago. Britney was surprised to find Cleo, chilling on her front porch when he arrived home from work that fateful day.

Initially, they thought that the pooch was a stray, but realizing how well-groomed she was, and the fact that Cleo was not skittish, led them to believe that this pup belongs to someone. Britney and Colton slowly earned the pup’s trust and once they did, they brought her to the local vet to check if she had a microchip.

Cleo was indeed chipped, and when Colton heard the name that came up, he instantly knew who they were. Cleo actually belonged to the family that used to own and live in their house and who already moved to Olathe, Kansas. The Michaels called them right away, and Drew, one of the members of that family immediately drove to their old home.

Drew shared that the pupper had been missing for over a week and they had no clue where she was. But they would’ve never imagined that Cleo would go on a lengthy adventure to their old house in Lawson, Missouri. According to both families, the pooch probably traveled along busy highways and crossed a river to get there.

Colton joked about knowing who to call if ever Cleo ever shows up on their front porch again, but that’s probably a good thing. No one knows why this pupper chose to go back to her old home, but what’s important is that she is back in her humans’ arms, safe and sound.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
