Woman Adopts Two Dogs Who Stayed The Longest At An Animal Shelter

Woman Adopts Two Dogs Who Stayed The Longest At An Animal Shelter

Kathy Morgan October 7, 2019

Most animal shelters find it hard to have senior dogs adopted. Nowadays, potential adopters prefer young pooches because they think older dogs are difficult to deal with and are prone to illnesses.

While there is nothing wrong with preference in adopting dogs, this thinking does not favor old dogs. Older dogs can indeed be slow, but they are still worthy of being given a chance at life.

Good thing, there are still a few people who are willing to take risks with older dogs. Leslie Sacks is one of these. Recently, Sacks visited the North Carolina Asheville Humane Society. There she was warmly welcomed by the volunteers of the animal shelter.

Sacks has one mission to fulfill during her visit, and that is to look for a dog to adopt. The woman asked the volunteers if there are dogs in the animal shelter who are either abandoned or old. The volunteers told Sacks about the case of two senior shelter dogs named Sam and Brutus.

It was Sam who came to the animal shelter first. Brutus, meanwhile, came next. After they arrived, it is challenging for the two to get adopted. But while this may be the case, the two never displayed negativity.

Although the two are now old, they managed to get adopted. Additionally, the two pooches were adopted by one person. That means they will live in a house together. Unlike the thinking of most people, Sacks shared in a later interview that senior dogs are still affectionate and energetic. For her, Sam and Brutus are the sweetest dogs she ever encountered.

For now, Sacks is busy taking care of her new pets. For Sacks, she only wants what is best for her two pooches. She vowed that while the two are already old, she will do everything to give them a loving environment.

About The Author

Kathy Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
