Watch A Golden Retriever And A Kitten Compete For Their Owner’s Affection

Watch A Golden Retriever And A Kitten Compete For Their Owner’s Affection

Kathy Morgan November 27, 2021

Pets are capable of being jealous, especially when their owner’s attention is involved. Sometimes it’s fun to see two pets compete for attention, as long as they don’t do it in a harmful way. Eventually, the competition dies down, and the rivalry can turn into a strong friendship. This is what happened to a dog named Nally and a kitten named Gordon.

Nally has always been a clingy dog. She loves being carried around even when her owners are in the middle of something. Despite being a large dog, she loves being treated like a baby.

When a new kitten named Gordon arrived at the house, Nally didn’t know how to react. She was curious and tried to lick the kitten, but he moved away. Eventually, Gordon realized that the large dog meant no harm, and they started to get along.

Nally is very tolerant of the little cat. She allows him to jump on her or play with her tail. However, when it came to their owner’s attention, she was very competitive.

If Gordon was getting kisses, Nally would want some too. If Gordon was on the owner’s chest, Nally would be nearby waiting to get some pats too. Her jealous stares are fun to watch.

Despite the competition, Nally couldn’t resist the kitten’s charm. In reality, the two pets spend more time bonding than competing for attention. This is why their owners love watching them show affection for each other.

The owners are well aware of the sibling rivalry. As much as possible, they don’t let it turn into a fight, so they make sure both pets receive equal attention. Taking care of Nally and Gordon is just like taking care of two kids.

There’s nothing more to say about the pets’ dynamic except how fortunate they are to have each other. They are also very fortunate to have owners that understand their needs. Not every cat and dog relationships turn into a favorable situation.

About The Author

Kathy Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
