Luiz, a homeless man, has been living on the streets of Cianorte for two decades. Doctors have long been telling him to address his psychiatric problem, but he’s consistent in saying no to any medical help. People see him alone on the streets, but this man is never lonely. He has friends who keep him company, most of which are dogs he considers family.
Rushed to the hospital
When Luiz suffered from a stroke one night, he had to be taken to the hospital. Witnesses called an ambulance for him, so doctors can give immediately give him the assistance he needs. Worried about their master, the dogs followed the ambulance to Santa Casa Hospital.
Doctors and nurses crowded around Luiz and took him to the emergency room. His six dogs had no choice but to wait for him outside. The dogs’ cries and howls were heard inside the hospital, but no one bothered to shush them. The people around them understood what they were going through.
After a few more hours of waiting, the dogs decided to lie down near the hospital entrance. These dogs had no plans of leaving their master.
Finally reunited with their master
Passersby were touched when they saw the dogs waiting for Luiz outside the hospital. When he was done with treatment, he passed through another door, and he didn’t see his furry friends. After getting discharged, the medical team took him to his brother’s house.
The dogs had no idea that their owner already left the hospitals. One of the volunteers decided to reunite Luiz and his dogs because this might help speed up his recovery. The canines could not stop wagging their tail when they saw Luiz again. The long wait was worth it because they saw their master smiling again.
