Owners Of A Puppy Take Their Choking Pet To The Police Station, Where Officers And Firefighters Work Together To Save It

Owners Of A Puppy Take Their Choking Pet To The Police Station, Where Officers And Firefighters Work Together To Save It

The North Reading Police Station officers were surprised when a young woman began hammering on the station’s glass window. They could see on her face that she was panicking and required immediate assistance. The officers ceased whatever they were doing at that time and rushed to know how they could help the woman.

The woman was with her boyfriend and they were holding a lifeless dog. They begged the police for assistance.

Megan Vitale, a resident of North Reading, and her boyfriend were resting at home after having lunch. They suddenly heard their Saint Bernard puppy, which was nine weeks old at that time, making choking sounds. When they checked in on him, they discovered that Bodhi the dog was becoming weak and had trouble breathing.

The couple grew frightened and hurriedly placed the dog in their car and proceeded to find assistance. As they spotted a neighboring police station, they halted and rushed inside.

As police officers captured the dog, he was already unresponsive and hardly breathing. The officers placed the dog on the ground and gave chest compressions and strikes to the back. They painstakingly attended to the dog for the next ten minutes, until the obstruction was eventually removed.

Yet, he remained weak and unable to breathe due to the incident. At that time, firefighters have come with an oxygen device made specifically for animals. The puppy resumed breathing gradually.

After Bodhi was stabilized, he was returned to his thankful owners and sent to a veterinarian for additional testing. In a few hours, he was given permission to return home, where he could relax and heal completely.

The pair is extremely grateful to the quick-thinking police officers and firefighters who saved the life of their pet. Evidently, Bodhi, who had just moved in with Megan that day, choked on his food.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
