Missing Dog Found Trapped Between Concrete Walls Gets Rescued By Firefighters

Missing Dog Found Trapped Between Concrete Walls Gets Rescued By Firefighters

Kathy Morgan October 30, 2021

Every dog owner knows the anxiety and frustration brought upon by a missing or lost dog. Any dog owner would be frantic and worried when they find out that their dog goes missing. As dog owners, we would surely do anything to get them back.

A woman named Connie Frick knows what it’s like to have a beloved pet dog go missing.

Connie stated that her dog, Gertie, ran into the woods and didn’t come back home. Connie started putting up missing dog posters to inform the public and also help her find her missing dog. However, despite putting up posters of Gertie all over her neighborhood, Connie didn’t have any luck finding Gertie. Nobody has seen Gertie wandering anywhere around town. Connie was understandably worried and wondered if she will ever see her beloved dog again.

Thankfully, a call from the fire department eased Connie’s worries. It turns out that a homeowner who happened to live nearby heard dog noises coming from their garage. After investigating, the homeowner saw that the noise came from a dog stuck between the concrete walls of their garage. The Cincinnati Fire Department was called to help with the rescue and after identifying the dog as Gertie, the fire department called Connie.

The firefighters determined that Gertie fell down a crevice which resulted in her getting stuck between the concrete walls. The firefighters believed that Gertie’s been stuck there since the day she got lost, which was already five days. Gertie was already starving and dehydrated and the firefighters knew that they needed to get her out of her predicament.

Since the firefighters couldn’t lift Gertie out of the walls, they decided that the best option is to breach the concrete block with a sledgehammer. After making a hole out of the concrete wall big enough for Gertie to fit through, one brave firefighter helped guided Gertie out of the hole. The firefighters did a fantastic job getting Gertie out.

Gertie was so happy to finally get out and she was smiling and wagging her tail to the rescuers. When Gertie was rescued, she was giving her rescuers puppy kisses as a sign of gratitude. Gertie was eventually returned to Connie. Connie is so thankful for getting her beloved dog back and credited the Cincinnati Fire Department for the rescue. Connie also gladly paid for the garage wall repairs. Here’s a video of Gertie’s amazing rescue.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
