Life can be tough for a lot of people. Some of these people end up becoming homeless at a very young age.
In Senatobia-Tate County, Mississippi, a shelter worker named Kris Robinson encountered one of the most heartbreaking interactions with a dog owner.
It all started when Kris was sitting in the front office and noticed a young man walking towards the entrance with a dog following closely behind him. Before the teenager entered the animal shelter, he told the dog to stay. The dog just sat down and patiently waited for her human to come back.
After the boy came in, he asked Kris if she could take his dog. The teenager explained that he was homeless and had been living under a bridge for a few days. He needed to leave his dog, who’s named Jada, to find work and hoped that she would be there when he got back.
Although the animal shelter was full, Kris saw that the young man badly needed help. Kris saw how the dog was so attached to the homeless teenager and that the two truly cared for each other. Kris decided to take the young man’s information and asked him to fill out a relinquishment form.
After the young man left, Kris could clearly see him wiping tears from his face. Jada was also confused and distressed about why her dad left her. When Kris checked on her, she just lay on the floor with the bag of dog food her dad left for her.
The next day, Kris posted Jada’s story on social media. She wasn’t expecting it to go viral, but it did. Her community started offering to foster Jada, but Kris knew that they could do better. Eventually, she reached out to a family who was willing to take in both the young man and Jada.
When Kris told the young man about the offer, he was confused at first and thought that the family wanted to adopt Jada. He was hesitant and asked if he could see Jada first. However, Kris made it clear to the young man that the family wanted to help both him and Jada.
The teen couldn’t believe it and accepted the offer. He returned to the shelter and picked up Jada, and their reunion was truly heartwarming. As soon as Jada saw her dad, she ran up to him and jumped. The kid also had a big smile on his face and gave Jada all the love he could give.
Thanks to the local community, the teen and his dog finally has a safe space to call home. The adolescent is concentrating on his studies, and Jada is receiving the care she deserves. Kris couldn’t be prouder of her local community. Thanks to them, there’s one less homeless kid and one less dog living in the animal shelter. Here’s a video featuring this heartwarming story.
