Guide Dog Protected Blind Owner From A Speeding Bus While Crossing The Street

Guide Dog Protected Blind Owner From A Speeding Bus While Crossing The Street

Kathy Morgan November 7, 2020

Dogs are courageous creatures with unwavering loyalty to their owners or family. Dogs will do everything that they can to protect their human family. You’ll find hundreds of stories online about dogs safeguarding their family.

A dog named Figo is a trained guide dog owned by a woman named Audrey Stone. On most days, Figo helps Audrey with her day to day activities. Audrey is blind, and Figo helps her become more independent. Figo would help Audrey navigate the world, and he also helps Audrey find things around her home.

While guiding Audrey across the street in a pedestrian crossing, Figo noticed that a mini school bus was going too fast and didn’t seem to slow down. Figo wasn’t trained for it, but Figo took the initiative and saved Audrey by shielding Audrey from the speeding bus. Despite the danger to his life, Figo didn’t waste any time and lunged into position by placing his body between the bus and Audrey.

Figo’s courageous act lessened the impact of the bus. Although Figo and Audrey still suffered multiple fractures and lacerations, Figo and Audrey survived. First responders on the scene of the incident described Figo as a selfless dog dedicated to Audrey. Even with serious injuries, Figo’s concern was for the well-being of Audrey.

Audrey couldn’t be prouder of Figo. Figo was willing to sacrifice his life to save Audrey, and even with serious injuries, Figo still wanted to be with Audrey to comfort her and make sure that Audrey’s okay. Figo and Audrey eventually made a full recovery, and their story touched a lot of people’s hearts.

Dogs are truly amazing animals. The love they give their family is genuine, and they will do everything they can to keep their human family safe from harm. Our dogs definitely deserve all the love that we can give. Here’s a remarkable video telling the story of Figo’s bravery.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
