Jerry is a little lamb that lived only for 2 weeks. But despite his short life, he touched so many lives, both people and animals. So when he passed away, everybody mourned, especially Drake.
Born runt among his litters, Jerry was rejected by his own mom. The farmer who owns him didn’t want to go through the hassle of bottle-feeding him. And so, he decided to drop him off at the animal shelter.
Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary took Jerry in. There, he met Drake, a dog. Jerry slept on top of Drake, a thing that lambs do with their mothers. And Drake didn’t mind at all. They cuddled and played together.
Sadly, Jerry and Drake’s special bond didn’t last long. The little lamb suddenly had gastric bloat, and his heart stopped even before the vets could perform emergency surgery on him.
Jerry’s passing saddened everyone at the sanctuary. But Drake, particularly, was confused. He kept searching for his friend, even if Jerry never made it back home from the vet.
Knowing that he is in deep sorrow, another worker decided to bring in some new friends for Drake. So they introduced him to Dottie, a goat. In an instant, the dog and the goat jumped up the couch and cuddled.
Dottie, together with her sister, was rescued from a hoarding situation. Since meeting her, Drake has been nothing but warm and kind. He welcomed her like he did when he met Jerry.
The animals cuddled all morning. Dottie’s sister even joined them afterward. They all lay on the carpet and snuggled one another. Indeed, Drake found comfort in his two new friends.
When there’s love, there’s always the risk of heartbreak and loss. Fortunately, the sanctuary is filled with love to help anyone going through a hard time. And while Drake has now moved on, Jerry’s memory will always be with him, forever.
