Dog Miraculously Survives Eight Gunshot Wounds

Dog Miraculously Survives Eight Gunshot Wounds

Kathy Morgan March 13, 2024

In Buchanan Dam, Texas, an animal shelter facility called the Hill Country Humane Society brought in an injured dog who got shot multiple times, including one on the face. The rescuers immediately looked for a vet to tend to his injuries and wasted no time so the poor dog could receive emergency care.

The dog was bleeding a lot and in pain. Moreover, the dog’s stomach was full of gas, thus requiring drainage.

Once the pooch underwent thorough examinations, the vet confirmed that the dog received eight gunshots in total — one was near his nose, another in his upper back, another in the neck, and one through his leg. The bullet wound near the dog’s nasal cavity was the most concerning.

Despite his several gunshot wounds and the lots of blood he lost, the pooch survived. Moreover, none of the gunshots hit any of his major arteries. Thus, his rescuers befittingly named him Messiah.

This brave dog still has a long way to complete recovery. But fortunately, he has already been matched with a foster family who will love and care for him and, most importantly, not hurt or abuse him. Despite everything that he has gone through and endured, Messiah remains the sweetest dog ever.

Abusing a dog or any other animal is never okay. And what happened to Messiah is probably the worst thing a person can do to an animal. Such a cruel act is unacceptable, and people should recognize that animals have rights too. Laws that protect animals like Messiah exist.

Help Asheville Bears, a privately funded non-profit organization dedicated to helping bears, is offering a reward of $5000 for information about the person who shot Messiah. If you or anyone you know have any information that may help bring the perpetrator to justice, kindly contact Help Asheville Bears.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
