Many dog owners are terrified about losing their pets. After all, many of the missing pets out there never make it home. As a result, when Dan O’Brien’s car was taken with his dog Loki inside, he feared the worst. Regardless of how frightening the situation was, they all refused to give up hope.
Despite all odds, the little dog returned home in record time. It was a miracle that authorities found the dog so quickly after unknown suspects had taken the vehicle.
It all started when O’Brien took another dog to the vet. He had to drop the dog off, so he reasoned that Loki would be less stressed if he waited in the car.
O’Brien only stayed at the vet’s office for a few minutes. Loki was left inside the car, which was still running. When O’Brien returned outside a few seconds later, the vehicle had disappeared, and Loki was nowhere to be seen.
O’Brien’s family went into a state of panic that lasted around 90 minutes. They were then informed of a police chase involving the missing car. The vehicle crashed on an exit ramp, and the driver was apprehended immediately by authorities. The guy was also accused of fleeing a hit-and-run in the past.
Loki was not found inside the vehicle when authorities searched it. They concluded the man had to have dropped off the dog somewhere along the road.
Loki, it turns out, had been abandoned outside a motel, where he was found and brought to safety. When Kodie Forrest and her roommate discovered Loki, they immediately went in search of his family. Forrest contacted the police, posted on social media, and reached a local animal shelter. She wouldn’t stop until someone linked Loki to his family.
Loki was quickly returned to his family, where they had a happy reunion. The puppy wiggled and wagged his tail until he was able to return to his family’s arms. O’Brien still can’t believe how fortunate they are to have been reunited with a treasured family member.
This entire incident might have been avoided if O’Brien had just brought Loki inside with him. After all, it would help if you never left your dog unsupervised in a car. All that counts is that Loki is safe today, and O’Brien will almost certainly take further steps in the future to keep him even safer.
