We hear a lot of stories about animals being trapped and rescued, but an 8-year old Jack Russel Terrier whose name is Luna has an interesting story to tell.
It was believed by the family who owns Luna that she was running after a rabbit and that was the reason why she got stuck underneath their home in Centennial. Luna is a very playful dog who loves to chase animals.
That day, they heard Luna’s cry for help. Anne Timmerman called the firefighters. They arrived not too long after, along with the other three different agencies and they worked together to save Luna. It was not an easy rescue, as it took them 30 hours to get poor Luna out.
What the firefighters thought to be just like an ordinary day turned out to be a difficult task for everybody. The South Fire Metro sent their technical team to help. They brought with them some tools to cut open Timmerman’s deck and a concrete slab beneath the home.
There were a lot of people on their driveway. Friends and families, neighbors and strangers, as well the animal control unit were present. What meant to be a rescue looked like a ‘house party’ as almost the whole neighborhood dropped by to offer any help they can.
Finally, Luna came out after hours of rescue. She was finally set free!

Everybody in the house was so happy to see this dog popping out its head. Luna was immediately taken to a veterinary clinic to make sure she was safe.
What happened totally scared everyone. Each step of the rescue operation was breathtaking. Just imagine how happy the Timmermans were after 30 hours of tension and waiting for Luna to be released. But at least everything is fine now, and everybody hopes Luna would not be into chasing rabbits anymore.
