It is already a part of the tradition that every Valentine’s Day, many couples would give flowers. However, there is a new way to mark this day and make it even more romantic.
A flower shop in Washington DC named She Loves Me did something special for this year’s Valentine’s day celebration. Each time a customer donates to an animal shelter, their Valentine’s Day flowers would be sent by an adorable rescue dog.
At first, the shop did not expect that the initiative will flourish but they still tried. To their surprise, She Loves Me raised a little over $1,000 for rescue dogs. Add to this, five special shelter dogs were tasked to deliver the flowers. The special shelter dogs seemed to enjoy the activity as they wore smiles on their faces.
With its successful launching, She Loves Me thinks of making this a yearly tradition. This way, they would be able to help rescue dogs at the same time make couples happy during Valentine’s day. Holley Simmons, the owner of the flower shop, said that she is very pleased that several people supported the initiative.
According to Holley, the cost of the flower averages about $50 per transaction. A portion of this amount will go to the animal shelter of her choice, which she will announce soon. Holley said she has yet to decide where to donate the money because she is no stranger that many animal shelters need help.
For now, Holley and her team are still enjoying the success of the activity. While they plan to make this a yearly thing, She Loves Me is also open to the possibility of doing this initiative during other key celebrations like Christmas and New Year. According to Holley, the possibilities are endless and as long as the activities have good intentions, people would support these.
