Brilliant Dog Figures Out To Cheat Its Owner’s Restraint Test

Brilliant Dog Figures Out To Cheat Its Owner’s Restraint Test

Kathy Morgan April 15, 2024

A golden retriever has found a way to cheat the restraint test his owner set up, and social media fans are impressed by its genius antics.

Dog owners worldwide love to share video clips on social media of their dogs left alone with treats in a room testing their restraint. But, one golden retriever figured out how to beat its owner at his game.
Viral footage shared on Twitter shows a man opening a drawer to get treats and leaving it near the puppy’s table. He commanded the pup to leave the treats before leaving the room.

Immediately after the owner goes out, the golden retriever hurriedly eats the food, seemingly failing the test at first.

Surprisingly, the puppy pulled the drawer using its mouth to get another treat and put it on the table exactly where his owner had previously left the treat.  It then pushed the drawer closed to bury the evidence of its brilliant cheating.

The pup then puts its head on the table as if nothing happened, waiting for its owner to notice the dog’s commendable self-restraint. The adorable footage was shared on Twitter, garnering four million views. Fans are sharing and commenting positively on the video.
One noticed how clever the pooch was: “This video shows clearly how intelligent golden retrievers are! So fun! I love them!”
Another commenter wrote: “Wow! Such a good boy/girl! Even if I caught them doing this, I wouldn’t be mad. I’d praise them for being little smarty pants.”
One shared his experience with his golden retriever: “I had a Golden Retriever, and he would sneak in one of the six pieces of meat on my plate and cheat. They are a cunning and cute breed!”
Videos like this brighten up the day for any dog lover out there!

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
