Santa Rosa resident Natasha Wallace noticed wildfire in the distance as she drove home from school. Her dog, Bentley, a 70-pound Pitbull mix, was still in her house, so she rushed home to get him. She and the dog were able to get inside the car and drive away.
However, heavy traffic forced them to abandon their car, and they rode a bike instead. Wallace put her dog in a duffel bag and traveled several miles before finally reaching safety. Pet owners are extremely fond of their pets.
They view them as a part of their families. When disaster strikes, many people would save the lives of humans under their roof first, but pet owners are not like this. They love their pets so much that they would prioritize their safety and risk their own lives to save them.
Being aware of the dangers your pet faces will help you protect it from potential harm. You can keep your dogs safe by getting them ID tags and having them microchipped. This way, if they’re ever lost or stolen, you have a much better chance of getting them back.
It’s also important that you protect your pet from accidents and possible poisoning. Dogs may get sick if they eat or drink certain harmful substances. These include cleaning solutions, chocolate, grapes, raisins, aspirin, and certain painkillers.
To help your dogs be safe, keep potentially dangerous products out of their reach. Many pet owners are happy to spend large sums of money on behalf of their pets. Some even build homes that cost much more than the houses they live in themselves.
A few also provide health insurance for their pets and arrange for trust funds to be set up in case they die and are no longer able to care for them. Our pets love us, no matter what our flaws are, and no one loves us better than they do. That’s why we can do extraordinary things for them.
