People find it hard to live away from home because of the constant attack of homesickness. Nothing beats living inside the comfort of the home where you grew up. Dogs are like that, too, especially if the only home and family they ever have is away from them.
Momentary home went wrong
Dogs can’t stand it when we leave them alone at home. Imagine the loneliness of Ping An, a Golden Retriever left in a temporary home. The original owner of Ping An let her stay temporarily at a friend’s home because their house underwent renovations.
They thought the project would scare the dog and cause her stress. So, they send her 62 miles away from their home. It had a significant impact on Ping An’s life.
Although the family meant well, Ping An was still lonely. Her temporary family exerted extra effort to make her feel at home, but Ping An longed for her family back home.
The journey of Ping An back home
She escaped, and the two families worried about her well-being. They did all they could to take her back home. Ping An was an intelligent dog and determined to find her way back home on her own.
She had spent two weeks walking; Ping An was so skinny and suffered some injuries. The employees in an office building discovered the dog and let her in. They fed her scraps and tended to the wounds caused by her long journey.
They posted Ping An’s picture on social media to determine if someone owned her. The family saw the post and reached out to have Ping An back in their arms. The family promised not to let her out of sight and to keep her home safe forever.
The story tells us nothing is scarier than being away from home—even animals long for the company of a family.
