A 100 Pound Great Dane Learns How To Cuddle

A 100 Pound Great Dane Learns How To Cuddle

Kathy Morgan February 8, 2024

Marshmallow is a Great Dane who was surrendered by a shelter in Florida. Animal control found Marshmallow first and contacted her former owner, who unfortunately did not want her anymore. When Marshmallow arrived at her foster home, she was shy, scared, and underweight.

Jordan, Marshmallow’s foster mom, wanted the best for her. Jordan already had four dogs and loved meeting new foster dogs. However, Marshmallow was too nervous to interact with them. She would only eat if Jordan were beside her, and it seemed like she was scared to be left alone.

The first thunderstorm Jordan experienced with Marshmallow was a turning point. Marshmallow was unsettled in bed with Jordan, pacing back and forth. Jordan cuddled and petted Marshmallow until she finally realized she was safe in her new home.

Marshmallow was more comfortable around people and only played with the other dogs. She would get anxious if the other dogs got too rowdy and preferred to stay with Jordan and Marshmallow when the other dogs were calm and relaxed.

However, Marshmallow still got nervous when the other dogs became too loud. She was friendly and welcoming to people and would sit on their lap immediately.

As time passed, Marshmallow started to come out of her shell. Once Jordan began having some friends and their dogs over, Marshmallow became one of the pack. Even though she had already left her comfort zone, Marshmallow was naturally calm and loved to drink cappuccino.

For Jordan, cuddling with a Great Dane was like having the best-weighted blanket ever. Marshmallow liked to do everything with Jordan and loved to cuddle. When the time came for Jordan to let go of Marshmallow, she was nervous because they had bonded so strongly.

The family who adopted Marshmallow was thrilled to meet her, which made Jordan happy, too. She was glad to see Marshmallow go to a family that would cherish her as much as she did. Finally, a once shy dog became open to people and loved again.

About The Author

Kathy Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
