Woman Visiting From The Netherlands Rescues A Stray Dog She Found On The Street And Helps Him Find The Perfect Family

Woman Visiting From The Netherlands Rescues A Stray Dog She Found On The Street And Helps Him Find The Perfect Family

Kathy Morgan August 31, 2020

Valia Orfanidou of The Orphan Pet and her friend Marcia went on a drive one sunny morning. Marcia noticed there were a lot of stray dogs on the road. Every turn they took, she saw a puppy or an old dog.

Valia always sees homeless dogs all the time. She’s from Greece, after all. But Marcia was from the Netherlands, and her heart ached every time she spotted a stray.

Marcia wanted to help every pup she saw, but she just couldn’t. But when they passed by a little black dog, she screamed for Valia to stop the car. She got off their vehicle and slowly approached the stray.

Terrified, the pup walked away. It spent time on the streets for quite a while and learned that the response is to walk away from most people. He feared and distrusted humans, so he hesitated when Marcia approached him.

Marcia refused to leave the dog behind. She gained his trust, and he gave her a chance. Moments later, the dog was already in Marcia’s arms.

She was emotional from the moment she carried the dog in her arms. She named the dog Basu and promised him that she’d stop at nothing to provide him the best life. Before leaving the country, she arranged for Basu’s placement at a rescue center, and Save a Greek Stray agreed to take him in.

Basu underwent training and soon joined an adoptive family. But just as he thought he found his happy ending already, he found himself back at the shelter. The family worried about the kids’ safety because the dog refused to sit on their lap and growled.

Marcia thought Basu found his match, so her heart broke one more time when he learned the dog was back at the shelter. She made everything work so Basu could have the life he deserved. And before long, she found a loving family who welcomed Basu in their beautiful house in the Netherlands.

Today, Basu spends most of his days chilling under the sun with his new dad. He loves him so much, even if he refuses to sit on his lap at times. Thanks to Marcia, Basu found his happy ending.

About The Author

Kathy Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
