Chihuahua Finally Found Her Forever Home After Spending 8 Years At A Shelter

Chihuahua Finally Found Her Forever Home After Spending 8 Years At A Shelter

Kathy Morgan July 11, 2020

Nessie is an eight-year-old Chihuahua mix who has special needs. Nessie was born with no front legs, and so from the very beginning of her life, she already had it hard. But Nessie wasn’t letting her disability dampen the fire within her to enjoy life.

Nessie spent all her life living in a shelter, but she was always on the lookout for her forever family. Being the strong-willed adorable pup that she is, Nessie quickly learned to walk around by herself despite her disability. Because of her cuteness, Nessie has attracted many people to come and see her, but none adopted her.

Nessie has had her fair share of potential families who adopted her but eventually gave up on her and brought her back to the shelter. She had gone through this disappointing process three times, and understandably, the staff members at the shelter don’t want her to experience it again. So they weren’t too excited when Theresa came to the shelter and expressed her desire to adopt Nessie.

While scrolling through social media, Theresa saw a photo of Nessie, and she fell instantly in love with her. Theresa said that after seeing Nessie’s picture, she just knew that she was the dog for her. So Theresa contacted the shelter and brought Nessie to her forever home. Imagine how delighted the staff members felt when the perfect person for Nessie finally found her!

Theresa wanted to share with others the wonderful memories she was creating with Nessie, so she decided to make social media accounts for the pup. On these accounts, Theresa shared videos and photos of Nessie’s new life and adventures. Theresa has given Nessie a new life, but Nessie has also made a great impact on her new mom.

Because of Nessie, Theresa realized that she had a calling for helping out disabled dogs. One year after she adopted Nessie, Theresa adopted a disabled puppy named Frankie. Frankie suffered the same disability as Nessie, and because of their similarities, they could relate with each other. It didn’t take long before the two started playing with each other and became the best of friends.

Being the older dog, Nessie took it up to herself to help Frankie learn to walk around and get used to his disability. Theresa relates that ever since Frankie came into Nessie’s life, Nessie has become more playful and jolly. There is no doubt that the two dogs love each other.

Theresa wasn’t done with adopting just yet, another addition to their happy family soon came in. Ali, a two-legged dog just like Nessie and Frankie, was the newest member of their growing family. Nessie and Frankie were more than happy to welcome Ali. Thanks to Theresa’s warm heart, the three dogs now have a forever home with the best family they could ever imagine!

About The Author

Kathy Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
