Stewart is a dog in Georgia and he a rescue. He was rescued from the woods where he had a leather belt wrapped around his neck and tied to a tree. The Whitfield County Animal Shelter took him in. He was very thin and afraid of people.
At the shelter, he positioned himself in a spot where he was the farthest away from any human contact. He wouldn’t even look at them in the eye or even just look at them. He wouldn’t eat. The belt was still on his neck and they tried to remove it but Stewart would only growl.
The volunteers at the shelter decided that they shouldn’t be near the dog and they did this for four days. Stewart surely had gone through many bad things in his past. The volunteers thought that the dog just may need time to adjust and know that these people are here are help him.
Rebecca Rood is the main person taking care of Stewart. The shelter didn’t have enough resources to help Stewart overcome his trauma. That’s why she decided to contact the Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation for help. This organization is based in New York.
SNARR was open to helping Stewart. The animal was brought to a clinic and he was given some anesthesia to sleep. He was neutered. They were able to remove the belt and he had his check-up.
After all that, Stewart woke up. He soon found out that the belt was no longer around his neck. For Stewart, it seemed like a door has opened and the light poured in. The dog suddenly was in good spirit.
Stewart slowly recovered. He became better in time and he surely showed what a wonderful dog he was. SNARR helped find a family for him who would adopt him, love him, and care for him.
