A therapy coach named Alan Whitton experienced every devoted pet owner’s worst nightmare. The Englishman was walking his beloved Jack Russell Terrier in their Buckhurst Hill neighborhood when suddenly a larger dog came running towards them.
A Basset Hound was able to break free from his owner and went charging toward Alan and his dog, Mitzi. The dog got scared and began to pull away. Alan lost his grip on his pet’s leash and Mitzi ran in the other direction. The larger dog started chasing the frightened puppy, and they were gone in a flash.
Mitzi never returned.
Worried dad
Alan tried to follow his pet, but the two dogs were too fast. He went around for the rest of the evening, looking hard for Mitzi. Unfortunately, he never found the sweet pooch. He couldn’t sleep that night and instead, he spent his time asking for help from the online community.
For the next three days, the worried dog owner started to feel hopeless. He enlisted the help of so many people, and Mitzi’s story got spread. But still, no word came around. But before the day ended, he received the best news he had ever heard in his life.
Emotional dad
A call came from a stranger who said she might have found Mitzi. The caller was a dog walker, and she said that her dog was frantically sniffing around a foxhole, and she saw a little pooch in the hole. It looked like Alan’s missing pet.
Without any hesitation, Alan quickly went to the area, along with his pet’s favorite toys. Outside the foxhole, he called out Mitzi’s name and squeaked one of the toys. The dog started responding. Elated with the dog’s reaction, Alan started digging to make the hole bigger.
Alan worked nonstop for the next two hours, using his bare hands to get the scared dog out of the hole. Some people stopped and helped him. And when Mitzi poked her head out, Alan quickly scooped him up. The emotional dad hugged his dog tight, and tears rolled down his cheeks.
He was so happy that his pet was finally back with him. Alan took Mitzi to the vet, and the good news is that the dog did not have any injuries.
