Stray Dog Who’s Terrified Of Human Touch Learns That Human Hands Could Also Bring So Much Joy

Stray Dog Who’s Terrified Of Human Touch Learns That Human Hands Could Also Bring So Much Joy

Kathy Morgan October 4, 2022

When you’ve been burned so many times, you shy away from anything and everything that caused you pain. The dog in this story did exactly that.

This female Golden Retriever lived in the streets as a stray, so it’s no wonder she didn’t trust any human near her. After all, she was with a pack of wild dogs, so she preferred living that way.

On the day she was rescued from the streets, this dog named Sassy trembled in fear. Humans have hurt her so many times that she steered clear of them.

Sassy knew how cruel some humans could be, so in the animal shelter, she stayed as small as she could and didn’t venture close to her rescuers.

This dog must have sensed that her rescuers were a different kind of people. They were kind, they always gave her food, and they spoke to her in hushed tones.

New life

Those little things sort of told Sassy that these humans were different from those she encountered as a stray. Little by little, she learned to trust them.

Soon, this dog was no longer scared for her life. She responded to being leashed well, and she began to play with other dogs in the shelter.

Loving humans

Our Sassy now loves receiving pets, hugs, and kisses from people. She finally understood that humans are not all bad people.

Some of them even give her the best body massage, so she’s not saying no to that. Other than overcoming her fear, Sassy also discovered that life could be good.

Now, Sassy doesn’t react negatively to dog leashes anymore. She understands they’re there to protect her and keep her close to her humans.

We’re just overjoyed this dog found a new life after her stint as a stray. We look forward to the day no stray will be seen on our streets ever again!

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma (of course a lady never shares their age) many years ago. Growing up I could remember always enjoying many pets in our household. From rabbits, hamsters Guinea pigs and dogs I loved them all even to this day. After graduating from High School: I decided to search for my first job. Yep, you guessed it my first job landed me in a pet shop. I learned so much from that experience that twenty years later I am still affiliated with our four-legged friend. I no longer work in a pet shop; but I have devoted my life to writing articles about “man’s best friend” dogs. I hope you enjoy the articles, stories and videos of our furry friends on this website. See you on the inside.
