Jon Mancinetti is a director and writer who has won numerous awards at film festivals all over the globe. He is a certified dog lover, and his passion is reflected in his films. His stories incorporate rescue dogs and the importance of saving them. The kind man has even helped raise funds through his work and the funds are intended to be used for shelter dogs.
One time, he went on tour around the US to showcase his rescue dog film. During his road trip, he brought along his own rescue dog, a pit bull named Smokey. Every time they stopped in one city, they made sure to drop by at a local shelter so that they can feature the dogs there and help them get adopted.
During one of his stops, Jon met a dog that really needed his help.
Scheduled to be killed
After Jon met the dogs and took videos and photos of them, one of the shelter staff walked him to the door. But right before he stepped out of the facility, the staff member then suddenly stopped him. She said that he had to meet another dog. She just remembered that there was one sweet pit bull that was scheduled to be put to sleep that day.
The shelter staff member went running inside then came back shortly after with a sickly-looking dog. He was very thin, had patches of fur missing, and his name is Mosey. The pit bull went straight to Jon and started snuggling against his legs. The kind filmmaker played with him for a bit then took his pictures as well.
When he was about to leave, he stopped himself and then turned around. He talked to the shelter staff member and told her that he was going to foster Mosey.
A new chance
The shelter dog was saved and taken away by Jon that very same day. For the rest of the trip, Mosey joined Smokey and his new foster dad. They promoted the film and even raised more funds for shelters.
When his movie tour ended, the director was able to find a loving family that wanted to adopt Mosey. He personally drove the pit bull there and saw for himself that the dog would have an amazing life with them. With a heavy heart, Jon bade goodbye to the rescue pit bull and vowed to visit him sometime.
